OPPORTUNITIES!

A district/town must always be seen as a boon to entrepreneurs instead of a well-established city. The reason being the place keeps developing and industries look for such places to tap into.

Most people are ready to invest money into some venture in this slowly developing place called a town but they fail to find the right "some venture", as always - An opportunity goes begging and they can inturn blame the choices/tastes of people in the town.

The problem is not knowing the wants of the town. The Niche must be found and this comes with proper analysis. You don't go setting up a clothing store if there are already 100 clothing stores in the same town with the same size and the same quality - you will end one among the 100 stores. But there are chances the store survives due to word of mouth and constant offers.

For a shop to excel if there are similar ones - There are two things that it must look for :

1. Innovation - This doesn't come easy but if something does click, the shop will stand out of the ordinary. For example, A well established Franchise will sets up a relatively small clothing store in a town can offer an online viewing of their clothes in their website and allow delivery from their local shops. Door Delivery of clothes! An argument can be placed that E-Commerce companies do the same thing. Time and Customer Service - this is where one can edge such companies and people too would definitely consider buying clothes from their own town rather than such far off companies.

2. USP - The shops based out of local areas must have an USP(Unique Selling Proposition) to stand out from the rest. Innovation sustained over a good period of time can become a good USP but its rather difficult. For example, take this shop which offers premium ice cream at cheaper prices - Great Worth for Money. In towns, the USP need not be huge, its the small things that always matter.

An Idea(as a customer) : People always look out for celebrating their friend's birthday at a place which is welcoming(able to cut the cake) and affordable(worth the money) too - This is a Niche as there are no such places where both coincide in towns.

A town is a place for bustling opportunities if the decisions are made right and people are always ready to welcome good things - I'm waiting too :).
